Well done to local businessman, Ian Whatley, who has raised £750 for a West Calder Zoo bear rescue appeal!

Last year the Five Sisters Zoo had been backed by celebrities – such as Chantelle Houghton and Kate Ford – in its bid to raise £100,000 to rescue three former circus bears from Belgium.

Mr Whatley, who runs Blackburn-based Hardhill Travel, had been collecting donations since October 2011 through his three businesses.

“Brian Curran, co-owner of Five Sisters Zoo, said: “We were thrilled that Ian had offered to support the bear appeal and amazed when we received three cheques, totalling £750.00 – what a lovely Christmas present that was for the fund!”.
